Julep maven

Hi guys! I know long time no blog. Sorry took me so long to make a post life just seemed to get in the way. A lot has changed since the last time I was on here. For starters I have a new job, I just moved into a new apartment, and life is ... life is just been going my way recently.

So without further ado here are the pretties that I have accumulated in the last couple of months.

1. Dianna 2. Debra 3. Dahlia 4. Leila 5. Stevie 6. Tatiana  7. Kristy 8. Lexie

It's not really a lot because I have been on a permanent no-buy unless I can justify the purchase. I already own tons of nail polish I have no real need to buy anymore, but the eight that I'm bout to show are my absolute favorites at the moment. I do have more that I recently purchased but I don't know where they're at because I am still in the process of unpacking my house.

I'm pretty sure by now that everyone has heard of Julep. Well if you haven't it's a company that has been around for a while that manufactures nail polish, cosmetics and skin care products. They have a monthly club called Julep Maven, where subscribers  receive 3 full size products every month. You just take a quick style test and your on your way to personalized beauty delivered to your doorstep monthly. I receive the Boho Glam maven box so I receive 2 nail varnishes and 1 cosmetic/skin care product. I love that they usually sent me polishes that I would have never picked out on my own that I absolutely love wearing. I'm not really a yellow person but because of Lexie and Leila it's starting to grow on me.

Well enough ranting and raving from me you can go try it out for yourselves at www.Julep.com.

Lazy Saturday Girls Day

So to kick off our lazy girls day Brianna and I battled in Mortal Kombat on the xbox. Next we danced our hearts out to various top hits on our iTunes playlist. Bri's fijit Sarafina even got bite by the dancing bug. Our afternoon movie matinee was a snooze fest for Bri because she fell asleep while watching Crawlspace, I on the other hand was left thoroughly confused. Alex Cross was a smash hit in both of our amateur movie critic opinions. Dinner was a hearty event followed by hot chocolate topped with cool whip and popcorn. Ms. Bri got a super cute animal print gel manicure while we watched the Once Upon a Time marathon.

All tied up in Celtic knots

This is a pic of my Easter holiday nails. As you can tell not your typical Easter design. I pride myself on being different. I'm trying to bring myself out of my comfort zone by wearing colors that I usually turn my nose up at even though I own them. So I went really budget friendly by using only wet n wild $1 polishes. The metallic silver is called Metallica and the stamping was done using Black Creme. I did the stamping with the XL Cheeky image plates that can be found on amazon.com for like $19- 25.

Gel Polish: Blue 10

Well if you follow me on youtube I then you know that I recently made a small purchase from maytheps. Its a website that sells nail art supplies such as acrylic powder, nail art brushes, gel nail kits, fimo slices, nail decals, crystals and such. the main reason for my purchase was to get more uv soak off gel polishes to use with my new led lamp. I ordered 23 gel polishes and one magnetic polish.  My absolutely fave polish that I purchased would have to be the blue Im about to show you. The pictures don't really do it justice.

The polish is from a company called Hong Nuo. Unfortunately the polishes don't have names just numbers so this is #10. The pictures are are a tad bit lighter in real life, I took these from my webcam because I misplaced my camera. Im also trying out a new app on my computer, Poladroid, it turns your pics into vintage-y polaroid. It reminds me of my childhood and my mom always reminding me not to fingerprint the photo.  Well I would of had a picture of last night snowfall but it had all disappeared this morning so maybe next time. Enjoy the photos.

Please Forgive Me

Im so sorry for not putting up an actual post this past week or so. I have been stressing out and slaving over final projects and studying for my finals the past week. I promise to get back on track and to resume posting this week. Honestly I still have on the same now extremely chipped polish from Day 2. Which I guess means I'll resume with day three which is yellow by Wednesday. I love you guys oodles.

Love
Erika

P.S. Praying that I get a 100 on my final research Paper. Wish me luck!!!

Day 2: Orange Nails

Not really much to say. This is Color Club Wham! Pow!. I seriously hate the name of this polish because of the useless punctuation. It's very bright very spring. Here's to hoping we don't get any snow in Maryland this winter.  Well i have to go curl Brianna's hair for school.  Enjoy the pics.

Music Therapy?: Nicki Minaj - Stupid Hoe (Explicit)

Wow, I'm not really sure how I feel about this one Nicki Nick. I usually like most of her stuff but I'm definitely not feeling this. I don't know maybe something is wrong with my hearing and the other 74,739 people who hit the dislike button on youtube. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan I just think she could have done a hell of a lot better with the lyrics. I like the video concept but I wanna wash my ears out with bleach every time I hear this damn song.

Question: What are your thoughts on this song?

Day 1: Red Nails

I was supposed to have post this yesterday but unfortunately I had misplaced my camera cable.  Excuse the fact that I didn't do any clean up I painted these yesterday morning while babysitting. Well Im like the color red but I'm not really a red nail person. I only own about 9 red nail polishes probably only 4 of them are true reds. I personally prefer darker reds and burgundies. So for that reason I chose Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro in Lava Red.

This is two coats, no base coat, no topcoat

Im Baaacck & with a 30 day challenge

Im so sorry that I've been awol for so long. Life truly got in the way, but I'm back on the scene.  I missed you guys like crazy. Though I haven't been posting I was still keeping an eye on all the blogs I follow. Ive also come to the conclusion that I now own more than enough nail polish. So for that aspect I no longer buy any polishes unless I absolutely must have it in my collection. That being said I'm going to be a better blogger. My first step to this is to do a daily nail challenge.
So I'll be starting either late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

P.S. Im finally back in school.

Review: Loreal One Sweep Shadow + Double Extend Eye Illuminator Mascara

The quality that i usually expect with loreal just wasn't there. It one sweep shadow would have been an excellent idea if it had been properly executed. The colors were nice but there was no pigmentation and the applicator was a no go firstly because no 2 eyes are shaped the same so to have a universal shadow applicator was ridiculous. I attempted to use this with my regular makeup brushes but the strips of color are entirely to thin to make that work.

I almost enjoyed the mascara. It was a great formula on the black base coat but the shimmer eye enhancer could use some work.

FYI; I received these products for free in exchange for my honest review. Im a bzzagent. All opinions are mine and mines alone.

Notd: Purple Oceans

This started off as a quick mani of Avon Violetta from their matte collection thrown on with some topcoat before I ran catch my bus for work. Well I found it too very blah on its on so when I got home which was rather quickly I might add I added a layer of Covered in Diamonds from Color Club's untamed luxuries collection. Sidenote I just acquired the second part of that collection from Ross yesterday. So now I have the full collection I just got find where I put my bottle of Ms. Hautie. I also reorganized my polishes again so their not everywhere. Honestly I think its time for a helmer, melmer, or at least a filing cabinet...

Who are you wearing @ the charity ball

Sorry for the sucky name um its a play on the polish names. Who are you wearing? and Charity Ball are from the Rebel Debutante collection by Color Club. This was inspired by the Queen of Dotting at Another Bottle of Polish. I was itching to try this and I'm so glad I did I loved it.

Color Cub Total Mystery

Hello dolls. Hope all is well I'm doing great, so sorry to the lack of post. I've been really busy at my new job. So I've always been a lover of royal blue polish and this one I have today is no exception. Total Mystery is from Color Club's Alter Ego collection. This polish totally reminds me of my all time favorite polish Skin Tight Denim by NYC on acid. Total Mystery is a royal blue with pink and purple micro shimmer throught. Its really pronounced in the bottle but kinda subtle on the nail. It really shines in full sunlight or bright lights. This is either 2 or 3 coats of along with base and top coat. Application wise this is a little hard to work with because the polish is thick already and it gets thick the longer the bottle is open. Though that's nothing a lil thinner can't fix and it dries semi matte so topcoat is a must.

New to me Brand: Mega Dare

Hey dolls this another new polish brand at least to me that I picked up from Ross about a week and a half ago. Sorry I'm so late with posting this I've been uber busy at work. Mega Dare polishes are manufactured by Dare Cosmetics. This particular collection is called Heart 'N' Roll. The bottles resemble the Tres Risk bottles except Mega Dare have these really cool Ed Hardy-esque designs on their bottles. This collection truly embodies it's moniker with glitzy and sparkly lacquers with names like Superstar and Grammy Night.

*sorry for the bad bottle shots*

Grammy Night (dark purple) and COS (blue) both contain silver microglitter. Fame & Fortune is a teal that has a mix of teal and silver microglitter / shimmer. Last but not least Superstar is a light purple with silver blue and pink microglitter. These dry semi flat so topcoat is a must. These retail for $4.99 at Ross.
